Upload multiple files is not working for more than three files from iPhone

Asked by noahreddell on December 16, 2012 at 04:24 PM

I have an upload form setup allowing multiple files.  Myself and other users have not been able to upload more than three files.

On the iPhone, I was able to select 11 photos.  All around 0.5MB-1.5MB  Those appeared to 'upload' based on the per-file animations.  I then submitted my form, and received the Thank You result.

My dropbox and JotForm submissions were both promptly updated, but with only three of the files.

I'm was able to send 11 files successfully from my laptop running Safari.

It looks like the interface on the phone is not working as indicated.

    Hi,

For mobile uploads, it is recommended to use the Filepicker.io field instead. The multiple upload field has a technology that is a bit restricting to computer/desktop only.

Find out more about Filepicker.io on this article (http://www.jotform.com/blog/61-Filepicker-io-JotForm-Let-Your-Users-Upload-Files-From-the-Cloud)

Here, I made a test form that you can use as sample. Test it and provide us your input.

Pleaes inform us if you have further inquiry.

    Thanks.

    Hi Jonathan,

Thank you for the suggestion.  I tried out the modified form using Filepicker.io.  The user experience is not as good as the regular file upload element.  But if it works, it works.  I say the user experience is not as good, because on the iPhone, I had to add files to upload one at a time.  And, each time, a new browser window is openned.  Also, I don't know how to use the 'drag files here' part of the interface.  It confuses me given that after selecting the 'Mobile' version, I'd expect the interface to be intuitive on my mobile.   Maybe the drag and drop relates to something in Android I am not familiar with.

How did you set up the radio-button mobile-desktop selection in the sample form you created?  Specifically, I am not sure how to make the two different upload interfaces reveal based on the radio button.

I use the Condition Logic feature of the form to setup the radio button option.

If you like you can also clone my test form. Read this article -How-to-Clone-a-Form-from-a-Web-Page  .

This the form URL that you will clone http://jotformpro.com/form/23506841478964

As for the drag from computer interface that appears in the Filepicker.io -- it is because I included the choice  computer among the option in upload process. If you exclude this, you will notice that the interface will change when using Filepicker.io.

I removed it in my test form. If you check again using your iphone, that interface will be gone.

    Thanks.

Hmm, now the new example you provided does not show me any way to upload from my iPhones camera roll / photo library.  I only see Facebook, Dropbox, Gmail options.

Could it be that the FilePicker.io "Computer" is the only way to accell the camera roll files on an iPhone?

If you noticed on the Filepicker.io configuration box(this screenshot), you can select the web services which you want it to use.

I also think this is correct. You will need to add "Computer" if you want it to use the file browser on your iphone instead of using web services available.

    Thanks.

ok, This works nicely from both the iPhone and desktop browser.  I've just replaced the original File Upload element with one FilePicker.io.  No need to have two elements.  When changing FilePicker.io to allow multiple file uploads, the iPhone experience is quite nice.

Now, one last thing.  Is it possible to get these files to add to my dropbox automatically?  I see how to use the file links from the form result, but that is not nearly as convenient as when things were depositing in my Dropbox seemlessly.
