To my understanding, you would like to change the background color of specific fields in your form. As also shown in your screenshot I'm afraid that it is not possible to change the background color of the field in the PDF Editor. However, what you are trying to do can be accomplished with the help of the Box Element.
You can add a Box first and add the element inside the Box. The Box has a feature to change its background color.
Here's a sample output.
Note: The PDF has a green background because I have changed the background color of the entire PDF page to green.
I hope this helps. If you have other questions, please feel free to let us know.

Hi Mike,
This is the feature I used to use in the old PDF editor, and wors extremely well. These fields are hidden by default and only appear if the answer to a question is YES or NO. For example, if the answer to a question is yes, then an orange box will appear with the relevant challenge or highlighted information. I need the coloured field to highlight a problem or point. When the PDF is printed out, it only prints the fields that are not hidden (using Hide Hidden Fields option). With the new PDF editor, by putting a box behind the field, then the box will always be on the printed PDF and not conditional on a yes or no answer. Unless I am wrong there's a fair chance that using the new PDF editor that I'm going to have coloured boxes with no content all over my PDF report. Unless there is a way to make the coloured box at the back conditional on an answer, then this won't work in my situation.I find it very silly that in trying to enhance the PDF editor you have taken a simple functional way that has worked well for me over many years.I will be staying on the old PDF editor until you can advise of an alternative solution works.RegardsJarrod. -

Yes, it seems that this feature is not available in the new PDF editor. What I can do is create a feature request and forward it to our product team for their review.
Unfortunately, I cannot give an ETA on whether this feature will be added or not. I can only assure you that a request has been submitted. Should there be any update(s) regarding this request, you will be notified here.
Let us know if you have further questions.

Thanks Jed,
Appreciate that. I am happy to use the old editor until this feature is added. This is critical to my business, due to the way we catch data and work with clients. As the old PDF editor works, I am OK with that. As long as you do not decommission the old editor without making all the features it had in the new one available I am happy.
It does seem very strange to me you would release a new editor and not include what I would think are some of the basic functions of the old. Quiet odd really !!
Regards
Jarrod.
