Filling a field based on a condition

I have two fields that capture ID numbers, one that the customer fills in if they already have one, and another that is generated automatically by jotform. I would l to send out an email that has the existing ID number if one is filled in, but if it is left empty, then sends out the automatically generated ID number.

Is there a way I can have a hidden field that is filled in based on that condition, then use that field in the email?

If you add a hidden field, you would only be able to pass the value a user entered in that field. It is not possible to pass the value from the Unique ID field to other form fields on the alive form because the Unique ID is generated when a form is submitted.

A solution to your issue is to create two Autoresponder Emails. One that will have Unique ID user entered and other that will have Unique ID created by the widget.

You can then set a condition to send the first Autoresponder Email if a user entered ID number and set a condition to send the second Autoresponder Email if a user did not enter ID number.
