How can I create a "unique" name for a submitted form in DropBox?

Hey guys, newish user, but I really like JotForms so far for our company.

What I'm trying to do is customize the nomenclature of submitted forms once they're saved in DropBox.  I realize I can do that via the unique ID of the submitted form, but a long string of digits doesn't help my team quickly reference what the form is without opening it (if we're just looking through the folder on DropBox).  If I just use a standard field name, the form gets overwritten if someone enters a new form, but I want to keep a historical record of the forms on DropBox for our reference.

For instance, if someone submits a form, I want it to be labeled as {fullName}-{date}.pdf instead of just {fullName}.pdf.

I tried to add variables to a hidden field, but I don't think that thoughts were that the hidden field could pre-populate based on the information provided in the visible fields, but I ended up just getting the variables labeled in DropBox.

    Thanks in advance.

Hello please refer to this thread with an answer to this allowing you to set which field is applied to your submissions as they are uploaded. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions or problems then let us know.

Thanks for the prompt response, however this still doesn't address the issue fully.

The folder is unique when created, but the struggle I'm having is the files within the folder.  Here's a better breakdown:

    1. I have the DropBox integration setup to create a folder based on the FullName entry on the Example form.  John Doe creates and submits a form.

    2. Jotform creates a folder within the Example Form folder called "John Doe" and populates it with a PDF of the form called "John Doe.pdf"

    3. John Doe fills out Example Form a second time.

    4. Jotform overwrites the initial "John Doe.pdf" form with the new form because it's the same name.

What I'd like to be able to do is populate the information within the folder with a unique identifier, possibly using a timestamp.  With this method in the above example, it would be the same first step, but the PDF of the form would be called "John Doe-1-8-2013.pdf".  That way if the user submits another form tomorrow, it would be called "John Doe-1-9-2013.pdf" and would be unique.

    Anyway to do that?

Hello geminienergy. We have now implemented a feature for the dropbox integration that can allow two field names to be merged to have one folder name. You can still modify your dropbox settings on the submissions page.

On clicking Manage Integration, a wizard will appear for you to configure your Dropbox settings.  Select the folder name you wish to use, and the extended folder name on the 2nd field.

This way there will be no worries for unexpected overwriting files if you choose your first, or your 2nd field that sends a unique identifier (such as the submission ID).

This is how the folder looks like with the configuration of a first name-last name, and submission ID fields set on the dropbox configuration.

Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.
