I have a form that is integrated with google spreadsheet so I can see my submissions, etc... Every once in a while the most current form submission is integrated into the spread sheet as the header for my spreadsheet. Instead of each question or form entry being listed above all the submissions in a light colored green background the newest form submissions replaces all of that information. How do I fix this bug and what can I do to make sure it's not happening any more?
Also, when form submissions are sent in 99% of the time they work well but there are some that get messed up. For example, on my form there is a spot for first and last name for students and teachers but sometimes only the teacher's first and last name will show up, and it does so in the box that the student's name usually shows up (on the google spreadsheet). Any suggestions?
I am okay with breaking my link and re-establishing a new one next week (new semester) but moving forward I want to remove these problems.
Thanks for your help. I work at a school and we use this form a lot to monitor students who are failing classes. Having technical issues with the form doesn't help me keep track of what's going on very easily.
or it is also here without being placed on the google site:

Hello and I am very sorry about this giving you trouble like that. Is there any way you could provide us with either a sharable link to the form so that we can view it or possibly just a screenshot if not both?
Currently I can see that the First and Last Name issue if i'm understanding what I think you may mean is happening mostly because the none of your form fields have been set to required so it is currently possible for someone to submit your form without even filling it out because of this so I would recommend turning that on to prevent this from occuring.
Also I was unable to replicate the problem other than sending the form blank after doing a few tests.

I can't share the document with you because of data privacy issues (student names are on the spreadsheet) or else I would. I was able to go back and try another test referral via the form and it seemed to work okay that time as far as not replacing the header on the sheet. It still didn't enter the names correctly though. I can make the name questions required as you recommended but i am 100% sure I made sure I put names in those boxes before submitting the form. Also it seems like when it integrates it moves all the cells over 1-2 to the left (the unique submission ID is put in the IP box, etc...
If I manually edit the spreadsheet header text will that mess up my future submissions? Is there a way to make the header (the form submission field area-light green like in your picture) uneditable so it won't change no matter what happens?
I will try it a few times and see what happens, maybe there was just a short mental fart going on between google and jotform.

did you use the google sites link or the jotform link in your trials?
- danielschmoyerAnswered on January 08, 2013 at 02:37 PM
I just tried it again and this is what happened.it should read "StudentFN", "StudentLN", "TeacherFN", "TeacherLN". Things got moved around.
THIS IS THE REST OF THE SPREADSHEET IF YOU WERE TO SCROLL OVER TO THE RIGHT:

If I manually edit the spreadsheet header text will that mess up my future submissions?
Unfortunately, yes, it will break the integration (at least for changed fields).
Is there a way to make the header (the form submission field area-light green like in your picture) uneditable so it won't change no matter what happens?
That was a screenshot from our default integration, the headers are light green by default, and it is better to not touch them.
I have cloned your form, integrated it with the Google Spreadsheet, but I was not able to reproduce the problem from my side.
Can you please try to do the following?
1. Remove the integration from your form.
3. Log in to the Jotform.
4. Re-integrate your form with the Google Spreadhseet.
Then, re-check the service.
Please let us know if you need any further assistance on this.

Thanks for the info. If i remove the integration will it start all over again with a new Google spreadsheet or will it just pick up with the old one? I assume it'll make a new one since the integration has been broken and its not linked to the previous spreadsheet anymore, correct? I don't mind doing that at the end of this semester but for the next 2 weeks I want to keep it on the same form. (I could copy and paste the new ones into the "old" spreadsheet for a week or two until the semester changes though).

I just did another test submission and it made 4 copies of the partial integration (teacher names in the student cell and nothing in the teacher cell) back to back to back to back (mirrored submissions). kinda weird. I know the new submissions will be on the jotform website so I will need to check there for the next 2 weeks before resetting the integration between JotForm and Google.

As a suggestion, you could use a HTML listing report as a backup.
It updates automatically after any submission and can be easily copied and pasted.
Here is a guide to help you with this:
Please give that a try and let us know if you need further assistance!

Hi, the integration for the Names seems to be mirrored because of the compound field Full Name. When it is translated into google spreadsheet, the labels (Student Name and Teacher Name) are not used. It uses the sub-labels instead.
Would it be OK if you edit the sub-labels? This should correct the problem.
If you remove the integration, then change the sub-labels, then re-integrate back -- it will still capture all the form submissions.
Hope this help.

Great! That's what I was going to try next. If I change the sub-labels now will that break my current intgetration automatically or wil it stay the same but remame the spreadsheet submision headings (green area)?
- JotForm SupportliyamAnswered on January 09, 2013 at 08:07 AM
If you change/edit the sub labels on your form, it will stop pushing the data to Google. You will then have to remove the integration and reintegrate your form again. But there is no need to worry as long as you have the complete data on your submissions page as this will also automatically migrate to your spreadsheet.
Hope this clarifies your concerns.
