New PDF Editor: Empty space in PDF if question is empty

  • RTLAdaIT
Asked on November 19, 2018 at 12:45 PM

What’s basically happening on the new PDF editor is that all the fields for which I didn’t get an answer are being left out blank (but it keeps the space on the page…).
Is there really no way to properly shrink the PDF to only the fields filled? (on the new editor)
Thanks for the help, and sorry for getting back to you on this. I just feel like this is the very end step I need to tackle, but can’t find any way to make it professional enough

I have tested your form using the new PDF Editor and I was able to replicate this.

Let me forward this issue to our developers and we will let you know when there is an update.

In the meanwhile, you can keep using the old PDF editor.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hi,

I got contacted by Merve regarding my issue but there was no follow-up in the thread. I'm pasting the conversation below. Thanks for you help!

    ----------------

    Hi Merve,

Thanks for coming back to me regarding my support request. Adrian & Berkay already investigated a bit on this. Based on Berkay’s last answer the issue I reported should be fixed. However when getting back on my test PDF on the new PDF editor the unwelcome pattern is still there

I attach you a screenshot of what I’m getting at the moment. As you can see when I have unanswered questions it does leave them blank as expected, but it doesn’t shrink the whole PDF so that it takes the least amount of space to report the answers. What it’s actually doing from my understanding is that your tool is respecting the page breaks, when I actually don’t care about them at all.

I hope you’ll find a fix or workaround

Thanks anyway for investigating, and for your quick feedback

    Best,

    Jordan

Objet : Curious why did you switch your account JordanRAC to the old version of the JotForm Sheets?

    Hi there,

This is Merve from the JotForm Support Team. You have recently switched from the JotForm Sheets to the old version. I wanted to find out why did you prefer the old version?

We apologize for this inconvenience. I investigated your concern and I noticed that you can delete header field and empty spaces in the new PDF Editor.

To delete the header field and empty spaces, please follow these steps:

First, you need to click on the fields.

Second, you need to click on the Trash button or you can use the backspace button on the keyboard.

In addition, our new PDF Editor more flexible compared to the old version and you can customize your PDF per your needs.

We appreciate if you can share with us as much information as you can, so we can improve our product. Because we really believe the new JotForm Sheets feature will make your life easier.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Regards.

    Hello,

As far as I understand, now your concern is about 'Page Breaks' leaving a space on pages. If you would like your form not to depend on page breaks of the original form, you may delete the page breaks within PDF template:

From my tests, space should be reduced automatically.

Please let us know if you will need more help with this.
