Currently there is no input masking option property for the Number field. So you cannot include a default character symbol in the input value.

But what you can do instead is to add the char/currency symbol in the condition calculation formula you are using.

I hope this help. Let us know if you need further assistance.

Not sure I understand you.  I did what you suggested and added  a '$' in the calculation formula but it didn't work.

Also, I would like to suggest as feedback that you include this ability in the form.  I got this form from the loan application template.  It makes sense that you would have currency as a default in the number value.

I did check your form and found that you have added hint text in the number field. I would suggest you to please add "Masked Input" widget in form for users to input number field. You can also prefix currency symbol in the widget as well. Please check the screenshot below:

You can then add the currency in the form calculation widget or the condition. This way you will be able to show the currency symbol in the input field along with the total amount form calculation widget as well. Please check the screenshot below:

    Hope this helps.

So what you're telling me, is that the loan application template that Jot Form recommended isn't in the correct format, and that I should forget all the hours spent modifying the templated form with logic and conditions, and start all over again using the widgets instead?  If that was the correct way to add a currency symbol, why wasn't it added to the template in the first place?  A loan application is about finance - finance is about money.

By the way, I've used your widgets in the past and they are unstable.  So, I have little trust that they are the best option.

Please note that the templates are created(by Jotform supporters, and users) to help others and contribute to the JotForm community: https://www.jotform.com/help/157-Sharing-a-Form-in-the-Form-Templates-Gallery

The templates may not meat exactly your requirements and specifications, so you will need to further customize them, even replace fields if needed, as in this case. So, if you need to display the currency symbol, the best option would be using the widget as my colleagues suggested.
