Are conditional answers possible?

    Here is my next question.

Question one on my survey is a multiple choice, one answer allowed.

I want question two to be a multiple choice offering the same answers as question one and allowing as many additional items on the list chosen as the individual would like. Is there a way to exclude from the offered list of options the answer the individual chose for question 1, and, if so, where do I find instructions on how to set this up?

Is this what you are looking for? https://form.jotform.com/90156031895963

If that is correct, this is possible through the Configurable List widget: https://www.jotform.com/help/282-How-to-Set-Up-the-Configurable-List-Widget

    BDavid,

I'm not techologically advanced and stumble my way through things. I did look at the links and I can't see how this does what I want.  Let me try to explain another way.

    Question 1:

    option 1

    option 2

    option 3

    option 4

People can pick one and only one of the above options.

The next question is basically "OK - now you told me what is most important from options 1-4, next tell me which other options you can about".

If they chose option1 for question1, I would want the list of options for question 2 to be option 2, 3 or 4.

If the chose option 2 for question1, I would want the list of options for question 2 to be option 1, 3 or 4.

    And so on.

Can you elaborate on how I use the widget to make this happe?

Thanks for providing more information, your requirement is now clear to me. I have revised all our widgets, and unfortunately, we do not have one that does what you need. Unfortunately, our conditions do not hide or disable options within questions.

I will think of a possible workaround and get back to you if I figure out something.

Hi again, here is my suggestion:

    1) Assign calculation values to the options in both fields: https://www.jotform.com/help/301-How-to-Assign-Calculation-Value

    2) Then add a form calculation widget to perform this formula:

    3) Finally, create 2 conditions that evaluate if the result in the calculation is equal to one, so the message is shown, and the submit button is hidden.

This seems like a clever approach. I have read the information and tried to comprehend and am missing something. Is a zoom meeting possible where I show my screen and you help me to understand?

Are you saying there is no opportunity for a conversation? I do not think it would take long.

If there is no opportunity, this will become tedious as I do not understand the instructions.

    1. Please lay out exactly what I should enter for the values for each of the questions.

    2. Please show me where to get to the place to set up conditional logic and exactly what that conditional logic should be.

Unfortunately, we do not have support over the phone. Our support is only via forum and email.

    1) The values should be entered to perform the division. If the result is equal to 1, that means that the same options were selected in both fields.

    2) In regards to conditions, please check this guide: https://www.jotform.com/help/316-How-to-Show-or-Hide-Fields-Base-on-User-s-Answer

Either I have not expressed my need clearly or I do not understand what you are suggesting I do. The video shows how to show an entire field based on how or if another is answered. My question is about showing each answer option ONLY if the = answer was not previously chosen for the prior question.

I think I give up since there is no way to talk to a person. If I could talk to a person this would be over in 5 min. As it is, big waste of my time and yours.

We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused.

To clarify, do you want to show the answer option only when the field was not previously  chosen by the first form user?

You may use the show/hide condition to hide a field and show it.

For example, if you choose option 1, a list of options would be shown.

You can hide the options by using the hide button on the field Properties>Advanced.
