Can't upload files in a form

When students submit print requests on our website, they get the following error:

Server error. Upload directory isn't writable.

The computer is connected to the internet. The same problem happens on other computers as well.

I have tried removing the upload field in the form and adding in a new field, but the same error persists.

Please advise!
