Widget creation: How long does Jotform approval for widgets take?

Asked on January 28, 2019 at 5:11 PM

I am trying to develop a Widget to embed on my form,

I added the simplehtml example given on the tutorial ( https://developers.jotform.com/widgets )

However the widget doesn't appear in my widgets list ( https://developers.jotform.com/myapps ) or in my widgets list on my form builder.

I understand you need to approve it before its public, but how long does it take to register before I can use view it in my personal widgets so I can work on it?

Approval can be instant or it might not be considered anytime soon. You could check this specific page for updates done by the Widget Team: http://www.jotform.com/answers/widget_updates.php.

I'm not sure if we have a "non-approval" case, especially if it's a great addition to JotForm, some may take a while but most of it are pending and are taken one at a time.

We appreciate your patience and understanding on this matter.

Jotform doesn't give development access to an widget without announcing it in widget updates?

Also there have been no widget news updates in 9 months in that channel.

Sorry for the many questions, I am just a little confused by the development process for Widgets. Is the current Jotform widget tutorial still valid? ( https://developers.jotform.com/widgets ) As right now I am just looking for development access to begin development of the widget. Not get approval to release a new widget for public consumption.

The tutorial is still valid. Follow the steps to create your custom Widget hosted on your server. The Widget is first hosted on your own server and is usable by only your account.

You can then change the status of your Widget to "send for Approval" and once this happens, our developer team would take time to review it and make a decision to add it for public viewing and use or reject it.

I recommend you proceed and follow the steps in the guide and create the Widget: https://developers.jotform.com/widgets

If you run into any issues or are unclear on the steps, do get back to us on this thread and we shall provide further guidance.

    Hey Donald,

Thanks for your response, I think there may be a misunderstanding on my part here. So I was following the tutorial you provided @  https://jotformintegrations.ringpartner.com/simple.html

All is well until I get to the step:

         Step 2: Register Widget

Go to My Apps page to begin registering your field.

I fill it out exactly as in the tutorial and then click the `Register Field` button and then it states that it successfully registered, however the widget does not show up in my Widget List or in the Jotform Builder for me even privately.

Are you guys able to see if you're receiving my attempts at registration? I will try some different browsers (I am using Chrome on Kubuntu and tested Firefox Currently, Also Chrome on MacOS has been tried)

So above it what caused me to think that I needed approval even at just the registration step as nothing was showing up for me to test out.

Thanks for your help on the matter.

Not sure if this helps (feel free to delete this if it shouldn't be public) but here is a video of me trying the process and after registration nothing showing up in my Widget List or Form Builder.

Thanks for the screencast and we do apologize for the inconvenience.

I can see from your screencast that you have registered the widget, but it does not list in your My Apps page. Have you tried using other browsers when registering your widget? Can you please try that and let us know how it goes.

    Looking forward for your response.

I have tried the following browsers :

    Firefox Quantum Version 64.0.2
Google Chrome - Version 70.0.3538.77 (Official Build) (64-bit)
    Midori - Version 7 Kalikiana
Edge - (Not sure of the version as the person left with the computer)
    cURL - Version 7.58.0

Any recommendations on a Browser/Version that is known to work I can try?

When I click register on any of the browsers they all POST to the endpoint: https://developers.jotform.com/widgets/new and receive no response other then a HTTP Code 200, or in the case of cURL I received `Creating new apps is disabled temporarily.` and then I am redirected to a blank list of widgets like in the video

Is it possible someone there could create me a sample widget to test that it's working? I don't mind trying other things as I'd love to get this working.

When I click Register on the Registration Page this is what gets sent to https://developers.jotform.com/widgets/new via POST if that helps at all (Just gets a 200 OK Response back from the server):

Just wanted to let everyone that is on this thread that the Widget Sign Up form is now working again. I was able to register two new widgets and its working great.

The only issue that remains is the page to update the custom widgets settings doesn't display a captcha and will fail to save. However, its not a big deal I can just re-create for now.

Thanks so much for everyone's assistance, especially the Developers and Support Staff!
