Some form entires haven't appeared in Dropbox

Asked by suarts on January 31, 2013 at 06:54 AM

I set up a form with Drop box integration from the start and some entries have not appeared in Drop Box. There are two folders that have appeared in Drop Box with different entries in, and some entries have not appeared at all.

Alternatively, all the entires have image uploads associated with them (hence the need for dropbox integration). Is there an easy way to just download all the uploaded images from the form submissions?

    Hi,

Unfortunately, there is no way to just upload images to dropbox. Attachment and the PDF results for the submissions will always come to Dropbox. With regards to the problem, please try to remove the current integration and integrate it again.

    Thanks

Perhaps I wasn't clear - I would like to just download the images associated with the form submissions - there are ~1000 so doing it manually for each entry is not really an option. What is more worrying is that the dropbox integration seems to have not functioned correctly - there are several submissions on the form which I can see have not been transferred into the dropbox folder. I paid for a Jotform account purely on the basis of the dropbox integration so I'm a bit annoyed that it doesn't seem to have functioned fully.

I have managed to solve mass image download by using Automator on Mac OSX using the following method:

    - Download Excel sheet of Form Submissions

    - Copy URLs associated with images into Text Edit and convert to Plain Text

    - Open Automator and add 'Get Selected Text' - copy the list of image URLS in

    - Add 'Extract Data from Text' and select URLs from the dropdown

    - Add 'Download URLs'

    - Run the script

Hello, I do understand the concern and frustration that this may have caused you. I went ahead and reread your question and if I am understanding you correctly basically it seems that you just want to allow Dropbox to go ahead and sync to download all of the images so that they are readily available.

As far as I know our Dropbox Integration doesn't have the ability yet to re-download all images from your submissions here on your account. The only way it is currently setup is to download newly added ones from then on that will begin to be added to your dropbox provided that you have implemented the Dropbox Integration in the first place during this timeframe and then they should begin to be sent to your Dropbox Account when submitted.

However, if you are not getting the submission when the Integration is applied to your account there may be a few things affecting this - file type or file size not specified, unique submissions can set form limits allowed, javascript needs to be enabled for required fields otherwise files and submissions may appear empty, if you are on during peaktimes there is a heavy server load this can cause a timeout to occur which occasionally the file does or submission doesn't come through.

Now if you have previously sent all your submissions to Dropbox you can easily sync them to download to you computer but if you've used the default method of managing them you will need to go into each folder to extract the images from them inside Dropbox. There is a way to configure it though to allow you to gather all the images in one place without the folders by changing the Integration Method to " No Folder " as depicted below. Unfortunately though you will still continue to receive the submission information as a pdf in Dropbox along with the Image and doing it this way may cause confusion unless you just skip over that info and look for the image file types instead.
