Need a field counter on submission

For this event, parents are registering their families.   Each family can only pick one grade band either K-2, 3-5, or 6-8. Then I have them put the total # of people attending from their family.

Issue is we need to track the number attending – and jotform tracks the number of submissions. Where in my case, a submission could be more than one person.

Would you suggest a different way to set it up or is there some counter I can use on the group # field.

This would allow you to set a limit for registration, when it is reached, users will not be able to submit another application. You can also always check how many slots left available.
