Is it possible to have a split payment option with PayPal checkout?

It's possible to split the amount to pay; however, when you mention PayPal checkout are you referring to split the payment and charge the amounts both with PayPal checkout or do you plan to use another payment gateway?

I want to have my customer pay a deposit in Paypal to hold a spot in a workshop and have them pay the balance 20 days before the workshop starts using the same paypal.

When you say that you want your customer to pay a deposit and rest of the payment within 20 days, do you mean to say that you want user to pay the balance using the same form?
