What makes the product we have HIPAA compliant

We use jotform with various Healthcare Providers to accomplish seamless referrals and get the information to the referring doctors as well as folks that handle Insurance verifications. We attached demographics and insurance information to the jotform and they are transmitted. A couple of our referral doctors were asking what makes this hipaa-compliant. So my question is what makes the product that we have HIPAA compliant as I do subscribe to that level of the jotform service?
