    Empty Notification Emails

Asked by Michelle Pate on February 06, 2013 at 02:10 AM

I used a template to get started, but the Thank You email still indicates those fields as empty. My form shows nothing past Submit, so I don't know how to get rid of extra fields.

    Please advise.

     Hi,

Can you please specify which form are you referring to?

Also, I would suggest you to delete the current notification that you have then make a new one. This is because notifications do not automatically update once you make some changes in your form's fields. Recreating your notification will allow it to add all the new fields that you have added on your form.

    Thank you.

I'm referring to the Reservation Information Form. I will try creating a new notification, but I did that last night with no change in the fact that there were extra fields on the form. If you have a look at that specific form and see the problem, please let me know what to do. Thanks,Michelle

    Hi Michelle,

I just checked the mentioned form on your account and found out that you've already 2 notifications for that form. Did you created that in purpose? If not, I'd suggest to delete the 2nd notification named "Reservation Information..." as it seems to be not the updated one.

If you have also embedded your form somewhere else, let us know the website URL so we can check your forms standing.

    Thanks!

Actually, the one called Reservation Form Completed is the most correct one. The one simply called Notification is the one showing extra fields:
    First Name{firstName38}Last Name{lastName}Gender{gender}Profile Picture{profilePicture}Username{username}E-mail{email43}About me{aboutMe}Birthday{birthday}Website{website}Current location{currentLocation}
The last set of fields I wanted on the form are the ones for the Emergency Contact Information which includes name, relationship to you, address, phone numbers, and email address. These other fields shown above (First Name to Current Location) are all from the original template. I clicked on each form box to delete them, and I don't see them on my Reservation Information Form, but the fields are still populating when the form is submitted (even though I don't see them on the form itself). I would just do another trial submission of the form, but we have limited submissions, so I can't just keep playing around with it in hopes that I will eventually get it right. Doing so uses up my allotment of submitted forms. Also, I was working on my form a bit with a colleague over the weekend during a virtual session where she was sharing her screen with me, and somewhere along the way, we found a Secure Form logo to show form recipients that the form is being submitted securely. Where is that logo, and how do I add it? I also have an agency logo and name I'd like to be part of my forms, but I didn't see how to do that either. Here's her form so you can see what I'd like to do (which is to make mine look less sterile and add my logo): http://form.jotform.us/form/23354730588156/ She also told me that it's possible to collapse each section of the form to make it look shorter, but I couldn't find a collapse section button either. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi,

Don't worry on test submissions. I can clear them on your submissions counter, which I did just now. ;)

By the way, I just recreated your form notification since yours was converted as text formatted so that should fixed the notification issue now.

We found a Secure Form logo to show form recipients that the form is being submitted securely. Where is that logo, and how do I add it?

Here's a guide for that: Enabling Security Certificate Seal on Secure Forms

I also have an agency logo and name I'd like to be part of my forms, but I didn't see how to do that either.

You can insert images to your form by using Image tool.

She also told me that it's possible to collapse each section of the form to make it look shorter, but I couldn't find a collapse section button either.

Form Collapse tool is under Survey Tools. You can try that.

Let us know if I have missed something. Thanks!

Yay, thank you! Can you see the changes I've made on the form now. Does it look better? This is my first time to create a form which will actually be used, and I'm not the best at this stuff (which you've undoubtedly already realized!!). 😉
I will try the test submission again to see how it looks when it comes to my email as a completed form. Thanks for clearing out these test submissions for me. I really appreciate it!

That's really cool! Nicely done! :)

By the way, I just recreated your notification again as my changes was overwritten by you since we were both editing at this moment, I guess. Anyway, I would suggest to delete your existing notification and create a new one just to make it sure that everything would be saved.

    Cheers!

Thanks, it continues to be a work in progress. Right now, my last problem I cannot seem to resolve is the fact that this URL (https://secure.jotformpro.com/form/30358768598978) doesn't show the SSL seal icon. It does show in tiny print that it is SSL secured, but the larger icon which makes it easily identifiable as an SSL form is not there. I have tried putting it at the top next to my logo, and then later, I moved it down to the section with the sensitive information, but it is still just the text minus the actual logo, regardless of its location. (BTW, it shows up while the form is being created and in previews, it just doesn't show up in the actualized URL.) How do I solve that issue?
    Thanks again,

    Hi,

I can view the seal under the 3rd collapse. It's working fine on my side. Check this video.

I'd suggest to clear your browser's cache, that should help. Thanks!

Yes, it works as a preview or when working on the form within JotPro. However, when you get the email to submit the form yourself, it does NOT show up in that section. Here's the email I have ready to send out. Please click on the link to go to the form created by the embed link and see what I mean. When you open that 3rd collapse section, you will see that it says GlobalSign SSL Certificates in teeny, tiny print with a large open space above it where the logo itself should be (but is not showing). Just click the link below to see what I mean...-------------------------Thank you for choosing Surf City Cruise and Travel. We truly appreciate your business.

Please CLICK HERE to be taken to our SSL secured online information form. Simply complete it and click SUBMIT! As soon as we have your information, we can be on our way to taking care of your travel needs.

    Hi,

I can't find the link you've mentioned on your post. Would you mind posting it on this thread?  http://www.jotform.me/answers/175089-Empty-Notification-Emails#10

Also, note that SSL Security Seal only shows when you are running on Secure Form https. Is you link uses https? It should be this: https://secure.jotformpro.com/form/30358768598978.

     Please double check. Thanks!

Hmmm, that's interesting. That's what doesn't show up in my form. I'm using IE as my browser. What browser are you using? I think I will give it a try in Chrome. Unfortunately, I don't know what various browsers my clients will be using, so I don't know if they will have the same problem that I'm having right now. In the meantime, I'll try it in Chrome!Date: Wed, 6 Feb 2013 14:49:47 -0500

Hi again, just getting back to my desk. What a long day! Unfortunately, the problem continues to occur. I am going to see if I can attach 2 files. One is from earlier and shows both the form on my form creator page within JotForm right beside a form that I opened up using the Embed link that I have entered into the browser bar. The second attachment is the one I did just now after receiving the email that you cleared the form cache and had hoped it resolve the issue (which unfortunately--as you'll see on the attachment--has not).

    What are your thoughts?

Okay, I have to give up on the attachments via this medium. The attach image asks for a URL link, and mine are stored on my computer, so there's no url for the tool to grab. I'm going to try sending them to you through email again. Please let me know if you get them.

Trying to attach the pictures again for you to see the problem. The one on the left is PrintScreen from earlier today with the logo showing within my form creation program within JotForm right beside the one using the Embed link opened up in a browser bar. The 2nd attachment is the screen shot of the link I just opened up after getting your email saying you'd cleared the form cache and were hopeful that it would solve the problem (which, as you will see on the screen shot, it has not). Please let this work!!! Argghh! Please advise.

    Hi Michelle,

Sorry for a bit delay. We were flooded with questions today, but it should now getting calm. =)

Anyway, please re-upload all the attachments here and paste here the Image URL. Unfortunately, email attachments will be stripped when it reached to forum threads. If you would be so kind to re-upload the images, we'd appreciate it.

    ---

All I can see here is the updated form. The problem might be related to our CDN cache delayed on some specific locations. I would suggest to do clear cache on your browser by hitting Ctrl + F5 on your keyboard while viewing the form. See if that makes differences.

Here's the latest screencast which I made just now with your form. http://screencast.com/t/vxf8hArVCPkA

You can also try it with this domain: https://www.jotformpro.com/form/30358768598978, check if this displays the updated form. Though there might be an incorrect verification link on the seal but it has been checked already.

    Thanks!

I have now sent the link to two other people with different computers in two different cities who also see the tiny text about GlobalSign... but the logo does not appear above the text for them either. So the problem is not with my computer. It is happening on their sides as well. I surely wish I knew what could be the problem.

    Hi,

Sorry about this problem. The SSL might be cached on your location that's why it doesn't show properly. Most probably the cache isn't yet cleared on our side, so I have temporarily added a workaround. Please check your form now with the SSL logo.
