Users Submitting Forms Taking Exceeding Amount of Time

Hi there, we have several users out in the field who are complaining about upload time for forms they are filling out. They inform us that it takes them anywhere from five minutes to fifteen minutes to upload. And we've suggested they try using local wi-fi and cellular data to attempt to get better upload speed.

But they keep running into the same issue where the upload for their forms takes several minutes.

We've done all we can and contacted our carrier for assistance with cellular service. We've contacted the ISP for faster upload speeds. But still we run into the same issue of users taking several minutes to upload forms. So at this point the only thing the could be the issue that we can see is something with Jotform.

Can you please assist us with this. As it is important to us for safety and reporting reasons that we get these reports promptly. And delays are causing us to fall behind.

    Thank you for your assistance.

Could you please provide us the link of the form in which you are facing this issue. I have seen that you have more than 20 forms in your account.

However, it only takes a few seconds for the form results to be submitted (even large files are uploaded before results are submitted), unless you get an error report (Like a 404) on your screen.

Please send us the form link, we will see if we can replicate the issue.

    Waiting for your response.

From what I am being told it is all of them. But the two most important ones.

Are the two that have been experiencing a slowdown during upload. And are the more crucial of the forms that we use.

It should only take a few seconds to upload a form. But for whatever reason, it takes five to fifteen minutes to upload. I think it's simply because they attach multiple large file sized images attached to the Form that causes the slow down.

    But I cant be sure.

    Thanks for your continued assistance.

When a file upload field is configured in a single upload mode (Multiple Files set to OFF), the upload process starts once the form Submit button is clicked. So the file upload may delay the submission.

You may consider enabling the Multiple Files option for your file upload fields. When it is enabled, the upload starts immediately after the file selection.

Uploaded files are being immediately submitted in this case.

Sorry I was using the wrong wording. The files upload to the form. It is when the forms are submitted that it takes minutes for the forms to go through.

It is when the forms are submitted that it takes minutes for the forms to go through.

This is actually what Mike had described as the one causing the submission delays...

Because you were using the Upload field in single upload mode, the upload process will only start uploading the file when hitting Submit button of the form.

    Ex:

We recommend setting the Upload field Multiple Files to ON.

See we used to have the setting put to multiple uploads. But when we did. Our users would upload multiple images to one field. Which messed with the forms formatting and made the form useless to us. So we set it to single uploads which restricted the users to how many images they could put in the field.

Is there any way we can restrict how many images our users upload to those fields. After we switch back to Multiple Files? As we are only uploading five images at a minimum that are only a couple MB's a most.

There is an option to limit the number of files when you Enable multiple files to be uploaded in the upload field.

Go to your File Upload Properties>Multiple>Limit Number of Files to ON.

Please give it a try and let us know if this fits your requirements.
