    Copying fields

Asked by DanMyers on February 12, 2013 at 05:00 PM

Is there a way to copy multiple fields in lieu of having to re type everything again?

    Example:

If I have 5 drop down boxes and 6 check boxes on my form and I want to use the same fields in 3 other places on my form is there a way to copy the section and paste?

    Sincerely

    Dan Myers

    Hi,

At the moment, there is no option yet to do 'macros' on the form level. What we have right now is allowing you to copy all fields to a new form(cloning) but that is not applicable to your case.

Would you mind sharing what those fields are? If feasible and generally usable, we might add it on Quick tools.

    Hi Dan Myers,

You can right click on the field and select duplicate after you edited the field that you wish to copy. Once you select duplicate, you will automatically see the copy of the field directly below the one you just copied. You can then drag and move them around to where you wish for each field to be on your form.

    Thank you Speel.

This should work if macros are meant just within the form. I was thinking he wants something to be globally available.

Please let us know if you need clarification.

The only way this might work is by downloading the full source code of the form and apply a similar workaround such as the one explained on this guide

Of course, that workaround will require you get dirty with some programming tasks , on that particular guide, what does the trick is this code

The example form is this one

Please take a look a that and if you have further questions let us know

    @DanMyers and Speel

Please be advised that it's now possible to copy multiple fields. See Item #2 in our latest JotForm Weekly Updates thread (June 11 to 17, 2013) for details.

If you would like assistance with this feature, we'd be happy to help.

    Cheers
