Is there a way to have a field on the form as read only and/or hidden that can automatically create a unique tracking ID or case ID number that will appear on the notification emails?

Maybe could be created based on the date and time submitted.  So if it was April 14, 2019 at 3:05 PM, it could generate a code like...  201904141505.

I plan to go in and edit the form with updates on the case from time to time so the form will be re-emailed to myself and the person that original submitted the form, however I don't want the "Case number" to change whenever the form is edited, the number must remain the same when originally submitted.

    Thanks!

We have the Unique ID widget that you can use to do this. However, the numbers are in series.

If you want the ID to be random, use our Random Value Generator widget (https://widgets.jotform.com/widget/random_value_generator).

    Hi Welvin,

Thank you for your super quick response!  The Uniquie ID is working as needed.

I wanted to use SRID-XXXX and I set the padding to 0000 and the starting number to 0 but i got SRID-1 when I expected SRID-0001.

Not a big deal, i am just going to set the starting number to 1001 so that way i ensure that it's 4-digits after the SRID-

    I really appricate the help!!!!!!!

    Thanks!

    Steven

Set the number padding to 4 to do it. I'm not certain if there's an update in the widget, there should be a preview, but upon submission, the correct padding should display if you set the correct padding.

    Here's an example:

I set the padding to 5:
