Correct a submitted form

A student has sent email asking us to correct a wrong phone number on his submitted form. I chose his form and clicked Edit. No problem changing the phone number. But there does not seem to be any way to save the corrected form. The Edit button has changed to a Cancel Edit button but there is no Save.

I can click the form's Submit button but that brings up several errors since the original form was submitted some time in the past. And it would probably add an additional submission to the list, which is not what we want. 

I understand that you are trying to edit a submission made to your form on its submissions page. If that is the case, you may refer to this guide — How-to-Edit-Submissions-Made-on-Your-Forms

After you have submitted the form after an edit, it will not create a new submission on the submissions page but it will only just update the submission you edited.

Thanks. The guide describes the procedure I already tried (but did not complete when I first tried it). It was good to discover that that editing updates the existing submission.

Even better, the original submission date is preserved. I did have to change our "today" date to the edit date, but that was probably a good thing. 

I was surprised that Jotform's validation would not accept a date in the past for our field that contains the date on which early bird prices expire. It is quite proper for that field to be in the past for some submissions. There was no problem when the original form was submitted, but it caused an error for the edited form. I changed it to today's date, and all was well, but it did seem strange. 

Sending an edit link to submitters is an interesting option, but only if it restricts the submitter to editing fields that are editable when the form is first submitted. Is that the case, or can they also edit fields such as the price paid which we want to control?

When the submission is edited, the current version of the form is used. It means that your current validation rules are being applied.

The payment integration fields are always 'read-only' in the submission edit mode. The user will not be able to change paid amount or selected product in the PayPal field.

Thanks. I just checked and the Early Bird Date was indeed required to be in the future. Don't know how that happened. Fixed.
