My conditionals disappeared!

    Some time recently, my form conditionals seem to have disappeared. And the messages that should be hidden unless some items are selected are showing on the form loading page.

    I haven't logged in to touch the form so I know it wasn't me messing it up. When I go in to edit them now, I can even see the conditionals to edit them - it's like they just disappeared. Did you guys upgrade something that downgraded me? Before I go in and try to recreate things maybe you can let me know what happened. My client is kind of upset about this, understandably.

    I just figured out how to find my conditions ( --I have to pretend I'm creating a new condition in order to see the ones I already have? That seems to be a usability flaw.)

    So it's saying they are still there, but they just aren't performing as they should. This is my form:

    Yes, to get to the conditions, click on "Conditions" button on the toolbar and then click on "Saved Conditions" button at the bottom of the wizard.


    Regarding the problem with your conditions:

    1. Can you tell me if you have the problem here as well?

    Not only on the embedded form on your site, but also on the standalone form?

    2. You have many conditions. Can you tell me exactly with which condition is broken? Have you tried deleting all related conditions and then re-creating them one at a time and then test everything after adding a new condition? So, that you can find out exactly which condition is creating the conflict.

    1. Yes, the form you linked to is the exact link in my second comment. It's the same form. All of the messagees you see in the lighter color there should be hidden when you first see the form.

    I'll see if I can recreate all of these but you can see that those conditions still exist when you (or I, anyway) click on Saved Conditions! It's going to be a pain to delete and re-create them.


    Thanks for the screenshot. I did figure out that eventually - I still think the Saved Conditions are rather hidden down there. Maybe you should have two icons in the toolbar - one for Saved Conditions and one to Add them..

    I have gone back and re-added conditions to hide multiple messages that need to be hidden and only appear when each option is selected from the dropdown... but they are not applying!

    Take a look at my form linked above.

    You can see these messages right below the Type of Habitat question. According to the rules I just added, those should be hidden until somethign is selected - isn't that correct? Or am I doing something wrong?

    Could you also add the ability to hide muliple fields when one condition is active so I don't have to add multiple rules to hide a bunch of things when nothing is selected?

    For one, basically it seems that none of my HIDE conditions are applying even though they are there in the conditions list and I've recreated some of them. Can you take a look into this?

    The reason, it seems, why your conditions are not working is because the fields you were trying to hide are headings (habitat messages - "Congratulations...")  and those type of form elements cannot be hidden.

    Take a look at this clone of your form which I made, feel free to clone it and modify to suit your needs.

    I removed the headings and replaced them with plain text using the Free Text HTML tool. You can find that tool under the Power Tools Section.


    I also restructured your conditions and removed unnecessary rules like these:



    When you initially add a condition that shows a certain field, say SHOW School Habitat field. When "Type of Habitat:" Is Equals To "School", all other options aside from "School" on that dropdown will HIDE the field in question by default. That means "HIDING those fields when the option is empty" is unnecessary and will only add confusion.

    Hi Neil,

    I don't understand how to clone or edit a form that I don't "own", like the one you created.. but anyway I've tried to replicate what you've done using my existing form. 

    I don't quite follow your comment about hiding fields being unnecessary, but it seems from adding the "show x field if X is selected" for all my options on that "habitat" field, it's added a condition to hide the other habitat text fields I created. This is new functionality from the way it used to work. (do you have release notes anywhere? Or do your policy just change stuff without keeping track of it without notifying users? I am mystified.)

    This is certainly evidence that you've changed functionality, as formerly headings were able to be hidden when I originally created the form. And, if you've deleted that functionality, it shouldn't even be possible to attempt this (select header elements as hideable fields) in the user interface. You should consider modifying this behaviour, and notifying users before you decide to modify existing functionality as you have. I am surprised you seem until now seem unwilling to admit that you've actually changed the way conditions have worked from how they formerly were. Until this happened, I was willing to recommend Jotform to other developers, but I can't really do that if you pull this kind of stuff - I guess another form builder won't break things without warning me.

    Hi Benjamin

    Please follow the directions of this article regarding cloning forms, in our user guide. Since the clone would be an exact replica of the original, care should be taken to change email addresses in notifications and auto-responses where appropriate. The same goes for "thank you" pages.

    On another note, while I can understand your frustration and perhaps much of what you have stated in the last paragraph has merit, in my opinion, Neil is one of the more dedicated members of the JotForm support team and you can rest assured that he would not willingly try to deceive you in any way. You should also be made aware of the fact that he is not responsible (certainly not to my knowledge) for changing the functionality of forms.

    Be that as it may, we will see how best we can resolve your situation.

    My form is not working properly named "Mirsky Valore Marketing", I have added some fields to my form but the fields was not working properly, So I removed them, then I didn't applied any conditions to the form. But still the form is not working, and some fields are showing(Sales/Rental Agreement Package) which I was removed.


    Kindly please look at my Form and suggest me why it is happening. The form name is "Mirsky Valore Marketing".
