    Feature Request: Geolocation

    Asked by dingosmoov on February 18, 2013 at 11:30 AM

    Can you add the ability to capture the geolocation of the form submitter.  This is a standard feature in HTML5.  This is very important for me because I will be using jotform with mobile devices, and need to know where information is coming.  How long could we expect for this to show up?

    Your request has been already forwarded to our feature request list.  We cannot provide you with an ETA.

    If we seen an increasing number of people requesting the same feature, the priority will be set higher

    This feature request is still unavailable, unfortunately we can't provide an ETA for it. But rest assured, your input has been noted. Thanks again in preferring Jotform!

    @instantes

    In the meantime, there is a workaround that one of our JotForm fellow users did. Of course, you must use the source code of the form

    Please refer to this thread: How-to-Add-a-Geo-Marker-Google-Maps-Marker-in-the-JotForm-Form#0

    Hopefully it will be implemented in our hosted version of the forms

    @jeanettebmz

    What has your response got to do with this thread?

    The thread's purpose is as per the first sentence ....

    Can you add the ability to capture the geolocation of the form submitter.

    The question you have answered is:

    How do I add a Geo-marker to a Google Map in a Jotform?

    ?

    @ markashton

    Hi, I think Jeanette was refering to the form itself found on that thread.

    This one https://shots.jotform.com/dinesh/sampleGeoMarker.html

    If you test the form, it will indeed able to capture the GPS geolocation you mark on the map.

    The submission grid of that form looks like this

    At least this is how I understand it.

    I am sure Jeanette will also update you when she can.

    Thanks.

    Eh?

    My question was why was she? It has nothing to do with obtaining the form submitter's geolocation on submission.

    You have gone on to embellish her mistake ... why bother explaining it anymore ... when she's answering an entirely different question.

    She didn't read it properly ...

    I got your point Mark. You were right to point it out.

    The question was

    Can you add the ability to capture the geolocation of the form submitter.

    Obviously, the test form I gave will not be able to do this reliably on the form submitter itself, because the form user will just mark anywhere on the map for the geolocation.

    But we should also not clutter this thread anymore. I am guilty of not suggesting to you to create your own thread for your question.

    I suggest you do this, and create the thread. And this way we can also add your thread as another request for this feature.

    Thanks.

    @markashton

    I don't think  I made any mistake. My response was for another user (@instantes) who is looking for the same feature. I just wanted to provide an alternate workaround in the meanwhile.

    So, my post was not for the originator of this thread. The ticket to add the ability to get the geolocation is there and hopefully will get implemented sooner than later
