I understand that I can create a form and embed it on a webpage. But can I simply attach the form to an email and send it to a recipient?

So far you can not do this directly. There are at least two things you can do to get the next best thing. First, just go ahead and insert the link to the webpage that contains the form. The other way is to create an html file where you can paste the script(source code) then attach it to your email. Now to do that you need to use any text editor(eg. notepad). Start with a blank file then go ahead and copy the code from jotform into the blank text file. To save this properly make sure that the file extension is set to html or make sure that option is set to all files then manually type ".html" to the end of the filename you chose then save it. Once you are done go ahead and insert the resulting file into you email. This should work.
