Hi, I would like to have the visitors on my homepage enter their number plate and hit submit then be taken to my form page with their number plate already placed within my form in the "number plate" field.
Is this possible?

Yes this is quite possible. You can create a PHP file and set the Thank you page as a custom url directing to the php file you have created.

Another way is to download the form source code and create a PHP function that would call the data from the form field.
