    Matrix Tool - CSS Request - Visual Report data issue

    Asked by markashton on February 26, 2013 at 12:39 PM

    Hi please look at this form:

    http://form.jotformpro.com/form/30553308409956

    As the matrix tool is useless to my clients in its current state ... as it won't graph anything ... I would like to get the same visual effect via CSS

    Would you be most kind as to help with the CSS involved

    Thanks Mark

    Hello mark, I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean by " same visual effect via CSS " or if that would even be possible but we can try however, I would like to know a little bit more about what exactly you want.

    Did you mean you would like to make a CSS version of the Matrix Tool or? Please confirm.

    Also, I would like to point out since you referred to graphing we do offer a graph report which can be accomplished via this guide http://www.jotform.com/help/187-How-to-create-a-Visual-Reports-with-your-Form-Submissions

    Hi,

    You can't graph anything with the Matrix Survey Tool - unless you only have one row - otherwies it is utterly useless.

    Can I ask if you looked at the form? ... it's all explained on there. Please ghive it a glance and tell me if you can't work it out ...

    Many thanks ... Mark

    I think I may not be understanding what you mean or possibly there is a glitch with your form and the graphing report as it almost sounded like it just isn't working or perhaps not working the way you want.

    When I cloned your form (http://form.jotform.us/form/30564880056153) and used the matrix answers I was able generate a graphed report (http://www.jotform.com/report/30565158691056) and after testing it some I could see the various answers appear.

    May we have your permission to test further on your account form to see what is going on more?

    You're not understanding ...

    See this form:

    http://form.jotformpro.com/form/30565319255960

    Clone that and graph the data to show satisfaction levels with ...

    Taste ... Texture ... and ... Wrapper

    To have any meaning that means three graphs ... so a professional could interpret the satisfaction levels with each different test i.e. taste, texture and wrapper

    Thanks

    Mark, you are right, the Matrix tools are not great for data analysis at this time. There is no easy fix for this, so we will need to completely redesign the Matrix tool in order to provide the solution. It will be fixed at some point, as you know the feature request ticket is already up for this.

    In the meantime, I would like to suggest using other fields if you need to analyse the data on the Visual Reports.

    Here is the example:

    Thank you.

    Mike,

    It's a nice idea ... but these are for mobile forms ... and your solution is 10 times greater in length.

    The matrix tool is perfect except the reporting .. so as for the form and explanation here:

    Do you know how I would hide the column headers and form label as requested ?

    Regards mark

    You can try the following CSS:

    #id_59 .form-label-top, #id_60 .form-label-top {display: none;}

    #cid_59 tr:first-child, #cid_60 tr:first-child {visibility: hidden;}

    .form-matrix-row-headers {width:50px;}

    #id_59 {top: -50px;}

    #id_60 {top: -100px;}

    Example:

    http://form.jotformpro.com/form/30566430774961

    It seems to be ok on iOS and Android devices, but unfortunately, I can not guarantee that it will be the same on other devices/browsers.

    Mike,

    This is utter genius ... bar one thing ...

    It is impossible to select the top two options i.e taste and texture ... try it

    Is there a z-index thing we can use or something?

    Thanks Mark

    Sorry for that, you are right about z-index.

    #id_59 .form-label-top, #id_60 .form-label-top {display: none;}

    #cid_59 tr:first-child, #cid_60 tr:first-child {visibility: hidden;}

    .form-matrix-row-headers {width:50px;}

    #id_59 {top: -50px;}

    #id_60 {top: -100px;}

    #id_57 {z-index: 1100;}

    #id_59 {z-index: 1000;}

    Please try adding highlighted part.

    This can be closed as the matrix tool is working a dream now ... one can report on all individual elements

    Thanks mark
