how can one selection auto select another?

I have two questions, one I want to show to the person completing the survey the second question is for the behind the scene automation. I want the initial selection to auto update the second question. 

for example, if they choose option 1 in the first question, I want the form to auto-populate option 1 on the second question. if they choose option 2 in the first question, I want the form to auto-populate option 2 on the second question.
