Is it possible to collect data to an excel spreadsheet as the jot form application is being populated?

    Hi,

Is it possible to collect data to an excel spreadsheet as the jot form application is being populated?  We want to save parents time as they fill out our form.  But in addition to what we ask on the form, we'd like to know SS#, gender, birthdate, relationship to student and annual income for everyone in the household (which could be up to 6 people).  I am having a bit of a problem trying to sort this out.  Would it be easier to just add questions to the current form or create an uploadable form?  How do I do this?  Thank you.  Gloria

I think the Spreadsheet to Form widget will work for your requirement.

Please check also our user guide: How to Use the Spreadsheet to Form Widget

You can use your existing Excel data as the data source and seamlessly blend it with the form data using the Spreadsheet to Form widget.

Please let us know if this will not work for you.

    Hi Jonathan,

I really wanted a solution the other way around... to have them fill out information on the form and than at a certain point have it open up and populate a spreadsheet.  Then I'd like them to fill in all the missing information.  Is this possible?  Gloria

    Thank you for the clarification.

I'm not sure if what you refer to as a "certain point" is after all of the parents have submitted the form or parents can update or fill in the missing information in the spreadsheet any time they wish to. Also, I'm not sure how you are planning on sharing the same spreadsheet to all of the parents for them to complete their missing information. If you do that, I'm afraid that there is a chance that they will be able to update entries of another parent.

I understand that you would like to have the fields you have mentioned added to your form. However, those fields will be empty for those who have already submitted your form and you are looking for ways to have them complete the information.

As a solution, how would you like to consider sending those who have already your form an edit link of their submission instead? Edit links of submission can be sent to respondents manually.

When they open the edit link, they will only see the data they have entered when they first fill in your form. They will also have the option to update what they have already entered if necessary. About the additional fields that you would like them to also fill in, we can set conditions in your form that will only show those fields when the form is accessed in edit mode, not when they are just about to fill the form the first time.

Then, after all the parents have updated their submissions and completed all the information you need from them, you can already download an excel file of all of the submissions.

Let us know if this works for you and if you need any further assistance in setting up this workaround.

    Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion.  Each parent will have their own form to fill in.  There are some questions like name and birthdate of the student and the name of the parent that will already be included on the form.  But I need this information to show up on a spreadsheet.  How can I get this information to automatically populate a pop up spreadsheet?  Then I can have the parent fill in the rest of the information required (SS#, birthdate, gender, income, and relationship to student) for each member of their household.

    Thanks.  Gloria

I'm afraid we do not have a spreadsheet in a popup option, but it may be possible that I still do not understand your requirements in full. Would you like to display a sheet on a form? Does that sheet already include information of all students?

There is an Iframe Embed widget, it could help to display a sheet, but this would not probably work if you need to allow users updating that sheet.

Maybe you can provide an example of flow that is going to happen on form?
