    Hi,

Please try adding a hint on a text box. If the hint is longer than the column width it doesn't wrap to the next line.

Downer - can this be fixed easily

    Thanks, Mark

    Hello Mark,

Thank you for sharing this with us. I was able to confirm this design flaw and have promptly brought this to the attention of our programming team for further action.

In the meantime, you have the option to use the Default Value instead of the Hint Example to indicate your hint message.

Please let us know if you need further assistance. Thank you for using JotForm!

This is a chrome/webkit bug. I'm sure they will fix it in the next version.

Try sub-label property and add .form-sub-label{ white-space:normal; } in the "Inject Custom CSS" section.

I also having this problem in the following browsers which I believe are all the most current versions:

    Firefox 6.0.2

    Opera 11.50

    Chrome 14.0.835.163

    Safari 5.1

    I also added this CSS code:   .form-sub-label{ white-space:normal; }

This CSS addition did not change the position or appearance of the 'hint' / 'description' text.

It has been 6 months, hopefully that version fix will be soon.

    Hi WebDEZN,

I've tried replicating your issue on our end and it seems to be working just fine. I've attached here a screenshot of my sample form injected with the CSS code mentioned earlier.

In order for us to further investigate your issue, we would need additional details regarding to it, such as the form's URL/ID, the webpage's URL where the form is embedded, and some screenshots if possible.

We will be waiting for your response. Thank you for your patience.

I got it to work after looking at the determining the class which was positioning the 'hint / 'description text.

I ended up overriding the class .form-description with an absoute postioning and a left of 400px and a top of 0px and it now works fine in all browsers.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

    Respectfully,

I'm fed up of coming across pre-reported bugs ... only a year ago I reported this string

Try this example form in an Iphone:

    Hint doesn't wrap. Now what?

    Client awaiting answer.

    Thanks Regards Mark

    Hi Mark,

The problem you mentioned is exclusive to the Safari browser engine, and is caused entirely by the said browser. JotForm's codes does not have anything to do with that behavior, which means we clearly are at Apple's mercy with regards to this bug.

Open this example in Safari, IE, Chrome and Firefox to see what I mean: http://jsfiddle.net/9gQZ2/

In any case, I will conduct further tests to see if there's a workaround to this problem.

Wow, overcomming a browser error is the job of the web developer.  Yes it would be nice for all the browsers to work under a single set of rules, but they don't.

Thank you for looking for a workaround.

    Hi,

No workaround then? I started this string 2 years ago ... reporting a bug.

Oct 12 2012 ... I put my time and resource to advise you of it again ....

The hint function doesn't work properly on the most common smartphone .. the Iphone and never has ... maybe it is safari. ... so what ...

The suggestion of using the default value instead above ... is well ... irritating to say the least due to its inappropriateness - a rank amateur suggestion

Also @WebDEZN is correct ... blaming the browser is paltry ... you shouldn't be in the web business if you make staments like that.

You know what? .. I would whack up a screenshot ... but the way you have the forum setup is for someone to host the images themselves .. too much hassle ... have an upload button please?

Can you fix this bug please ?

    I'd be grateful

Also don't come back to me with a comment like this ....

"We are grateful for your input into Jotform  ... it makes it what it is ... blah blah ... Please have some patience ... blah ... we can't guarantee any time line ... "

I don't want to hear that.

This bug's been knocking around 2 years and you haven't fixed it

    Regards Mark

Respectfully, why do I have to create a test form - isn't that your job?

    Anyway here: http://form.jotformpro.com/form/30644503512949

Try that on an Iphone 4. No wrapping

    Thanks, Mark

    Hello Mark

I was able to reproduce the error even in the emulator, it happens in  iPhone 4S, though

However, it doesn't happen in iPhone4S version 6.0 (emulator)

At any rate, I am forwarding this thread to our developers. If you will, please use  this link to get an URL and insert an image for us to see

    Hi,

You don't need a link - it's like the first one.

Don't trust Iphone simulators - they are often misleading.

    Thanks, mark

Hello markashton, we believe this is a bug on Apple iOS. If you can take a close look on my manager's screenshots, you will notice that the first screenshot is based on iOS5.1 where the bug appears.

While on her second screenshot, you will notice that it is based on iOS 6.0. This kind of bug is already fixed by Apple upon reaching 6.0. I have mine on 6.1 and it works great.

Here is some screenshots on my iPod touch 4g iOS 6.1:

Sorry for the poor camera quality but I tried my best to enhance it. As you can see here, the wrapping bug is already fixed on iOS 6.0 and above. I am sorry also as I can not provide a shot with iOS 5.1 without downgrading my iOS.

While it is pretty easy to target Safari on any Apple device using a CSS hack,  it is also possible to target a specific operating system but for iOS it is also hard to differentiate which iOS version they are using.

    Thanks

    @Mark

Maybe this thread might help you, in anycase. I added the ability to go to nextline when you put Hint text into the textarea.

    Thanks,
