    Feature Request: Moving fields position quickly in a long form

    Asked by cheekyface on March 10, 2013 at 08:10 PM

    Hi guys.

    This is a feature request.

    I often have to change the order of fields after I've built a form and when they get on the larger size it can take a long time to move several fields from top to bottom.  I don't know if there is a quicker way but I would just drag it from one position to the other and of course I have to wait for the screen to scroll down/up to the correct point.

    I also use Zoho CRM and I thought you guys might be able to do what they have done with their layout tool for positioning fields.  There is a fixed area to the right of the screen where you can remove fields to, making them inactive and removing them from the form without deleting them altogether.   It's like a clip board except you simply drag the field there temporarily then scroll down with the scroll bar all the while the field you are moving is in view.  When you move the layout to the section you want, you just dag it back again.  This area holds as many fields as you like and has it's own scroll bar (if you fill it past the size of the fixed window).

    I've included a screenshot to help understand what I'm describing (to avoid confusion I should mention that the full page scroll bar is not visible in the screenshot).
    If there were an area on the form editor that allows this it would save a lot of time when reorganizing the forms.  It could even fit just below the 'Payment Tools' tab on the left side field options toolbar.

    Hope this is something you will consider seriously as I think it will make a big difference to the ease of creating forms.

    Cheers,
    Danny.

    Hello,

    I have added your request to our feature wish list so our dev team will be aware on this. If any progress has been made with this, you will be informed on this thread.

    Thank you.

    I almost forgot this request was here and was about to suggest the following in a separate feature request.  It's more or less the same thing but could be an alternative to the above...

    Just thought it would be great to be able to move multiple fields at the same time.  It would just add to the ease of building a form if you could select multiple fields the same way you do when you select items on a PC by holding the ctrl key and clicking to select.  Then drag them all into the new location.

    @submit10,

    Thanks for the upvote. If you'd like the same feature, we request you to open a separate thread so we can create a separate ticket out of it.

    Thanks

    Thank you!!

    ...Might help to put a button in there to finalize the move.  Just to avoid confusion for first time users.  I eventually figured out I only have to close the window and the move was done.  I was looking for a "Done" button.  Works great either way.

    @cheekyface

    We really appreciate your suggestion, however, that would require a new feature request as the original one has been resolved, so I ask you to kindly open a new thread so that we can forward your suggestion to our dev team and they can consider it.

    Thanks

    @cheekyface

    I deeply apologize for my first answer, please ignore it. You don't need to open a new thread. Your suggestion has been forwarded to our development team and they will look on to it.

    If some information is available you will get the update via this thread.

    Thank you.
