Can I edit the form when it is currently integrated with Google Sheet?

Hi, I would like to add a phone number  field to a form that I have linked to a spreadsheet in Google sheets. If I edit the form and add this field...how will it affect the data that is already on the spreadsheet? 

I would like to add this field...then notify all my clients in the database to edit their information using the edit submission link and add their phone numbers to their profiles and consequently update the Google sheet.

Please advise.

The integration with Google Sheet will be broken. You'll need to remove the integration and integrate it once again every time you add fields or modify your form. The old integration link will no longer be usable in that case.
