Two Questions: I need to make paying Required & Gender Issue

I need to make sure that folks can't submitted without paying.  How do I do that?

In the gender section for kids, I need to make sure that they are only able to chose one. How do I do that?  Do I need to use a different tool?

This can be done from the field settings, here is a screenshot for visual guidance:

That happens since the field is a multiple choice field, instead use a single choice element: 

Delete the current one and add the single choice.
