In your Free account, the allowable limits are as follows:

Monthly submissions - 100

Monthly payment submissions - 10

Monthly form views - 1000

Total upload space - 100 MB

Total submission storage - 500

Out of this, monthly submission is the number of submissions you can receive on a monthly basis. This value is reset to zero on the first day of every month.

Whereas, the total submission storage is the total number of submissions you can store on your account itself. This would mean the monthly submissions cumulatively add to the total submission storage.
