    That works for the Form Calculation Widget but how can I do it for other fields that are intended for currency only such as the Fixed Pledge and Your pledge per lap fields?

    For fixed pledge, you cannot do anything since it's a number field, so you cannot insert a dollar sign there.

    If you don't need to use the number field, you could replace it with text field and there you could insert a $ sign as default value.

    Now I'm not sure about the "Your pledge per lap" field:

    Since it's a dropdown field.

    If I use a text field for Fixed Pledge instead of a number, can I use the text field in a calculation?

    Yes you could, but if you will use a Short Text Entry field, make sure to validate it to accept numbers only:
