I set up a coupon for comp tickets to an event, and it wouldn't let people register without credit card information still.

This meant I had to make the payment field not mandatory, and now I have people registering without paying. How do i fix this?

You can handle this situation by setting some conditions. If you add the "Single Choice" field to your form as shown below, ask him/her whether s/he wants to pay or not

1- Add a "Single Choice" field to your form

2- Ask him/her whether s/he wants to pay or not

3- Create a condition like below

By doing this, visitors can fill out the form whether they want to pay or not and you make also "payment" field mandatory for visitors who wish to pay. I did this with cloning your form, If you don't know how to clone form, you can visit this guide ;
