I need clients to "lookup" old data and display the form with the data

Asked by sbrand on March 20, 2013 at 05:44 PM

I need clients to "lookup" old data and display the form with the data so they can check it, make revisions and RE-save the form data. How can I create something that does this lookup and then displays the form with the existing data?

    Hi,

You can use the edit link

Please test this form http://www.jotformpro.com/form/30786868963980 . Use your email to receive the autoresponder or you can also use the link in the Thank You page.

    Thanks.

This is good but I need to allow a client who has already submitted a form to lookup their form data and display the form with their data so they can revised it and save. At this point, they do not have the Edit Link. Is there some way to take someone to the edit link for a particular entry?

    Hi,

I am sorry, but you cannot do a database query/search procedure on the form itself. You will have to create your own web page to come up with that solution. A PHP query page and then the JotForm form.

What your client can do instead is do the search on their email.

    i.e.

My test form have an autoresponder email. If your client have use this form, they will receive the email everytime they use the form and submit.

So, they can easily go back to those email messages and search the submission they did, and use the Edit Link to revise the submission if they need to.

Hope this help. Inform us if you have more inquiry.

    Thanks.

How can I do a php query on the existing jotform results. Can I write my own query and acces the jotform data and then display the edit link based on the results?

This would be an awesome function.

We run boating courses.   When people arrive for the week we ask them to fill out a paper crew registration form.

At the end of the week, we give them a paper feedback questionnaire.

I want to be able to instead give them wifi connected tablets when they arrive, to fill in the crew reg. form before they board.

And when they come back, hand them the tablet, they then type in their email address to locate their original crew registration record so that they can edit the form and complete the second half - the feedback questionnaire.

The result is that we have a single record with all their details AND feedback.

If there was some magic LOOKUP widget, that you could type an email address, and it auto-completes to emails matching already submittted, then retrieves the correct EDIT link associated with the existing record that contains that email address (one time granted).

    Anyway...
