PDF Editor - File Upload: Is there any way to automatically resize image uploads prior to downloading as a PDF?

    Hi,

I see you recently updated the way uploaded files are displayed in the PDF editor. The new format options are great, however, previously it would automatically resize the images so the entire PDF when downloaded and saved was only a couple megabytes. Now it's saving the image size without resizes the images so my PDF's are more like 120 megabytes, even though the image size displayed is smaller.

Any way to have it automatically resize the image prior to downloading as a PDF? that was a really useful feature for my forms.

    Thanks,

    Keith

    Hello Keith,

My apologies for touching one of the PDF documents in the form. I was checking one submission, but I accidentally clicked the sizing option and cannot seem to redo it. It is now in a grid layout. I can create a ticket if you need it one image per row.

So, in the new image formatting, have you tried changing the sizing option? See below:

Note that for file uploads, we are keeping the image size and its quality. Are you saying that previously, the PDF is auto optimizing the images to make them smaller on the file?

You have multiple images in the form, and having 2.2MB of PDF seems right for me.

    Hi,
I did try using the small verses large - the medium seems to display best for what we’re doing.
I’m just referring to the actual image size. Previously, I didn’t have to “resize” the images prior to uploading them into the form, but now if I don’t resize them, the PDF when downloaded is closer to 100 MB which is too large. Before the downloaded PDF would be around 2-3 MB.. even with dozens of photos attached.
Also, we’ve been using the smartphone app and have been having issues with synching the submitted forms when going from offline to online. Some submitted forms disappear completely after they’re submitted. And sometimes we continue to get duplicate submissions. If you look at our inbox you’ll see what I’m talking about.

Overall, this service and great and is working out well for us, but there seems to be an awful lot of bugs, which I’m sure you guys are working on.

Thanks a lot for bringing this up to us. Jotform team has continuously been working on making the service better by adding new features. Apologies if it in turn caused some inconvenience on your end. Let me forward this to our backend team so they may check if they could implement your request.

As for your concern on mobile forms, I have moved it to a separate thread so that it can be addressed accordingly. You may follow up on it here:

    Hi @keith1827

Can you please provide us with the form URL so that we can check and assist you accordingly. I do not see any form with this name CK-SL Realty Trust in your account.

So it’s only happening on a few that were submitted Thursday. I’ve tried submitted new ones and it works fine.
That one I sent was an example of a submission that was coming up with the error message.

I checked your PDF document and it appears to be displaying the pictures correctly. I checked few our your submissions from Thursday and they are showing the pictures fine.

I would advise you to keep an eye on this and let us know if this happens again. Additionally, we have already raised a concern of PDF file sizing to our backend team. They shall be looking into this post here as soon as there is an update.
