    Hey there,

We love the JotForm brand and availability of forms and the HIPAA compliance.  We will be using the forms once we upgrade to log and export patient data for tele consults and would like to know when the PDF form gets sent to other healthcare providers, will be be able to encrypt the PDF?

I see there can be a password function to view the data which we may use. Is there also a way to e-fax reports?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

When you are upgraded to HIPAA, the PDF attachment requires a password before you can save it. You cannot skip the password, and that's the way we secure data in the PDF sent to you and to the other recipients of the form. When other recipients are required to receive the data, you will have to let them know of the password to open the file.

PHI or protected fields are hidden in the email. In this case, e-Fax will not work unless you will disable PHI on fields that you want to eFax, then the for is no longer compliant.

I hope that answers your question. Please let us know if you want to clarify the answer or have any other question related to HIPAA.
