What do I need to do to get selected forms to display correctly in IE7,8

Asked by lcmsbbnc on March 30, 2011 at 05:45 PM

The following JOT forms display correctly as an embedded link in Firefox 4 (Left), but not in IE7 (Right).

    FIREFOX 4.0:                                                          Internet Explorer 7.0

    http://216.235.207.145/page.aspx?pid=778

    EXAMPLE --

    FIREFOX 4.0:                                                          Internet Explorer 7.0

    EXAMPLE --

    http://216.235.207.145/page.aspx?pid=999

    FIREFOX 4.0:                                                          Internet Explorer 7.0

    http://216.235.207.145/page.aspx?pid=1001

    EXAMPLE --

Among other things: I have tried removing the injected custom CSS, replacing embed link with full source code, linking in Lightbox, and linking in iframe.  (Note: I experience problems also when using IE7 and  the JOT Form Editor -- i.e. unable to consistently move shrunken text boxes to the next line, then appending shrunken text boxes to the moved-down text box -- rather, the  text box to be appended jumps over the box immediately above to the line preceding).

Any help/guidance will be greatly appreciated.

    An otherwise very happy subscriber,

Do you only get these problems on your own web site or do you also have them when you look at the forms standalone on these browsers?

If the problem is a conflict with something on the page, my suggestion would be to use IFrame Code. Here is how you can get the IFrame code. Open your form on the Form Builder:

    1. Open "Setup & Share" tab on toolbar,

    2. Click on "Embed Form"

    3. Click on iFrame and copy the code provided.

I see that you have this on the Inject Custom CSS:

    .form-all { color: #222121; font-family: Georgia,times, "times new roman" serif; font-size: 13px; } .form-all li, .form-all ul { list-style: none; margin: 0; padding: 0; list-style-image: none; }.form-header-group { background: none; border: none; clear: both; padding: 0; } .form-header { margin: 0; padding: 0 0 0.5em; color: #222121; font-size: 14px; text-decoration: none; text-transform: uppercase; font-family: georgia,serif; font-weight: normal; } .form-submit-button, .form-submit-reset, .form-submit-print { margin: 0; overflow: visible; padding: 1px 6px; width: auto; color: #333; /* new */ -moz-border-radius: 3px 3px 3px 3px; background: url(http://216.235.207.145/view.image?id=419) repeat-x 0 100% #FAE387; border-color: #E5B96C #E0AD53 #604A23 #D2A14C; border-style: solid; border-width: 1px; font-family: georgia,serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 14px; padding: 6px 8px; width: auto; display: inline-block; margin: 0.5em 0.5em 0.5em 0; float: right; } .form-line { padding: 0; } div.form-buttons-wrapper { margin-left: 149px !important; } iframe { height: auto !important; } div.form-input { clear: both; } li.form-line-active { background: transparent; } input.form-textbox, textarea.form-textarea { -moz-border-radius: 3px 3px 3px 3px; -webkit-border-radius: 3px 3px 3px 3px; border-radius: 3px 3px 3px 3px; border: 1px solid #878383; color: #222121; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12px; margin: 0; outline: none; padding: 0.5em; vertical-align: middle; /* width: 248px; */ }
    #label_13 {visibility:hidden;} #label_42 {visibility:hidden;}#label_143 {visibility:hidden;}

Do you still have the problem if you remove the custom CSS? It could be caused by them.

    aytekin,

You suggested I try viewing the form in a standalone browser --

Here I am in Edit Mode at JOTform.com using FF 4.0:

    http://www.jotform.com/?formID=10302954254

Here I am in Preview Mode at JOTform.com using FF 4.0:

    --------------------

Here I am in Edit Mode at JOTform.com using IE 7:

    http://www.jotform.com/?formID=10302954254

Here I am in Preview Mode at JOTform.com using IE 7:

    http://www.jotform.com/?formID=10302954254

Notice the difference in layout between the two browsers.

I have also tried removing the injected CSS, and have tried embedding the form in an i-frame and a Lightbox.  Nothing suceeds in resolving the difference between the two browsers. (For what it's worth, form renders properly in Chrome and in Safari.)

    Your thoughts?

    Jim

Hello Jim.  We apologize for missing to update you on this matter.  I'm not certain whether or not the developer was able to fix the problem you have encountered, but on checking the address of the website being discussed, it appears that the form no longer is there.  Also upon checking the actual form, I could not find any major difference between IE, firefox, Chrome, and Safari browsers.

Anyhow, if you continue to experience issues on your end, please do let us know.

    Thanks.
