    Hi there,

I have a new business and would like to create a new account. Since I have been having problems with my encryption key I am wondering if I get a new a account whether my laptop will keep using the encryption key from my other account. Or will it be OK. The new company strictly requires encryption key.

    Thank you,

    Jinji

Please note that when you enable encryption in your form, it will give you three options as shown below:

If you have already saved your existing key, you can sign up for another account and use your existing key file to enable encryption or provide a public key.

    Hope this helps.

Do get back to us if you have any questions.

    Hi there,

What I want to know is whether I will have issues with the existing key when I get a new account.

Don’t want to mess around wasting my time like I did before for this account as the issue is still not sorted. I am now not encrypting my currents forms which I am not happy about.

So I don’t want any issues when I the new business forms up and running.

    Thanks,

    Jinji Dissanayake

No you will not have any issues with your existing key file when you sign up for a new account. I would suggest you to save the key file separately which will be required to view submissions of your existing encrypted form.

My issue is that I have no idea where my current key is stored and which one fits which form.
I am so frustrated with the fact that I have 40 submissions and I cant view then now.

I have raised support tickets for this previously but I could not understand what I needed to do in a simple manner to recover the key files and how to apply them. The answer I got was to clear my browser cache which would also clear passwords etc and I did not want to do that. I wanted a resolution that involved doing what I needed to do via Jotform- not chrome.

If you have another solution I would really appreciate this as I would like to encrypt data for my current account.

    Thank you,

    Jinji Dissanayake

Please note that when you enable encryption, key file is mandatory to decrypt submissions. We do not save key file on our servers.

If you are using the same computer which you used to enable encryption, I would suggest you to please check your computer/laptop downloads folder and see if you are able to locate the key files. If you have multiple key file, you can use then one by one to check but if you have lost the key file, there is nothing much we can do as we do not save the key file on server.

I have not lost any of the keys- they are saved. But don’t know how to check one by one as you have said to see which one decrypts the files.

May we know if you have enabled notification in your form?

If yes, you can use the encrypted notification email to test your keys.

You may also try viewing the data in the submission page, it should prompt you to upload the private key when trying to view the submission data.

Please give it a try and let us know how it goes.

The wizards shown on my colleague screenshots are prompted only when the encryption feature is turned on, you can turn this on from the form settings tab, under the form settings section and changing the "Encrypt Form Data" option to yes, all this should be done while editing your form on the form builder.

Some things that you should consider while testing this:

    - Make sure to be enabling the encryption feature on the forms that were previously encrypted.

    - Submissions received by the time the encryption feature is turned on will be encrypted too.

    - In order to avoid receiving new encrypted submissions, you may temporary disable the form, this can be done from the form settings on the form builder.

    - Only the correct key can decrypt the data, if a wrong key is uploaded then nothing will be decrypted.
