How do I change a date form field to not discriminate on date format?

Using the calendar icon on a mobile device is incredibly inefficient, which seems to be the only method that doesn't confuse with a red "!"

We do have different widgets you can use to show date.

    Date Picker https://widgets.jotform.com/widget/date_picker

    Date time single widget https://widgets.jotform.com/widget/datetime_single

Can you please explain further how you want to show the date in the date picker field?

    Looking forward for your response.

    Hi Richie,

Thanks for the response. We currently have a basic date field with the calendar button that when used populates the date in MM/DD/YYYY format. If not used, the form automatically shows a red "!" when the first number is entered into the field. This "!" doesn't go away until the field is correctly entered with MM/DD/YYYY and you click into another field within the form, which is very confusing and discouraging to many of the participants completing the form. I'm curious if there is a way that we can keep the option to select the date through the icon but also forgo the mandatory format of the date entered (MM/DD/YYYY). We would like the form to be able to be submitted with any format: M/D/YY, M-D-YY, MM-DD-YYYY, etc.

Unfortunately, that's not possible. They must follow the date format stated in the date field:

If you want to allow any date format in the field then you can use a "short-text entry field" for your date field. However, you will not be able to keep the calendar icon and dates.

In my opinion, I don't think it's confusing because the date format is stated before they fill out the form.
