    There is a problem with one of the functions on my form

    Asked by jranney on April 01, 2011 at 05:19 PM

    I have a form I've embedded into Facebook that has a pop-up description (hover). The pop up is actually an image. This pop up works perfectly here: my form, but does not work in facebook. (see the link field below).

    The Hover is located over the first question in the "Hair Loss Information section"

    Thanks

    Hi jranney,

    Thank you for sharing your concern with us. I went to your Facebook page to compare the source code with the one in your JotForm form and noticed that the following code necessary for showing the hover image is missing in the Facebook page:

    <script src="//cdn.jotfor.ms/jotform.jgz?3.1.109" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
       JotForm.init(function(){
          JotForm.description('input_15', '<img src=\"http://www.freedomhair.com/Images/norwood2.gif\">');
       });
    </script>

    I have highlighted the URL of your hover image in green.

    I'm not sure if Facebook forcibly stripped off these lines, but if it is possible for you to paste the above code again within the <HEAD> </HEAD> tags, please paste it again and let us know if it will work properly after doing that or not.

    We have observed that what our other Facebook users usually do is to use the iframe embed code of the form instead of the source code. It works well for them. I would therefore suggest that you do the same strategy. Instead of using the form's source code, use the form's iframe embed code instead, such as:

    <iframe allowtransparency="true" src="//form.jotform.com/form/10605928622" frameborder="0" style="width:100%; height:616px; border:none;" scrolling="no">

    </iframe>

    In that way, any CSS or javascripting that Facebook doesn't like will not be placed directly into Facebook's web page editor. All scripting codes are located in the webpage inside the iframe (in this case, http://form.jotform.com/form/10605928622).

    You can find the iframe embed code option here:

    We hope you find this information useful. Please let us know if you need further assistance.

    Thank you for using JotForm!

    A note to other users - the issue was not with Jotform but with Facebook. There is a current intermittent bug on facebook which interrupts scripts in the tabs. Iframes also not working right.
