Edit Submission: showing or tracking field entries that are changed on each submission

Is there a way to track the changes between the original submission and subsequent submissions? Maybe where fields that changed are highlighted on the subsequent submissions?

    Hi @johnpyne,

Unfortunately, there is no way to highlight or track the submission changes, you only receive an email notification about it, but changes are not highlighted.

I'm afraid the only indication that a submission was edited would be the SUBJECT LINE on the email you receive "after" the submission has been edited.

When the SEND ON EDIT option is enabled for your EMAIL NOTIFICATION, edited submissions will trigger an email that has the word "EDIT:" in the subject line:

We may open a feature request for this if you want, although we cannot provide an ETA, we would keep you updated via this thread.

Let us know if you would like to proceed.

    Thank you

    Hi Steven,

Thank you so much for getting back to me.  I think this would be a great addition to a wonderful product.  If you could open a feature request for me, I would greatly appreciate it.  Highlighting changes, only including fields that changed, or changing the color of the font in subsequent submissions would be a great solution.

The issue that we run into is that our team cannot easily tell what changed between submissions without comparing the original submission to subsequent submissions. With the research that I've done on this issue today it seems like it would help a lot of other users as well.

Thank you for your help, please let me know if you have any questions.

Yes, I think this is a great idea - and maybe letting us check the changes by a link or a parameter added in the view submission URL.

    Something like:

    https://www.jotform.com/submission/4441165301322367006?version=1

    https://www.jotform.com/submission/4441165301322367006?version=2

    Version=# as an indicator.

Or, do you want this to be on one link where you can just tap or click on an entry and see it's version?

I've gone ahead and sent this thread to our developers as a feature request. We cannot provide you a timeframe for the request, but as soon as we have an update, you will be notified here.

    Good Afternoon,

That could work, but what I think would be best, is if the submission email that we receive shows the changes in a different color, highlights them, or only sends an email with the fields that have changed.

The change you are proposing would still require us to compare subsequent submissions to the original submission.

    Does that make sense?

Thanks again for your help, I love using JotForms and this feature would be a huge time savings for my team.

Ok, but I guess that method still needs you to view old data since you need to compare entries, right? Anyways, I've noted that on the ticket :)

Another way, maybe, would be to append the new version below the original submission and add a highlight. Something like this:

I think that would work nicely!

    Welvin,

How can I add the highlight like you suggested above for subsequent submissions?

The suggestion (add highlight) was added as a feature request to our developers.

Once updates are available, you will be notified via this thread.
