How to limit number of available slots or items?

I am trying to create a form where I can set a limit to the number of attendees, not the number of submissions.

I have set a limit on the number of submissions and added a drop down that lets the person registering select the number of people attending. The problem is that the limit is reduced by 1 for the submission and not by the number of people attending chosen in the drop down.

Is there a way to reduce limit number by the total number of attendees in the submission?

You may consider using an Inventory widget or a Quantity Gift Registry widget. These widgets will automatically control the available slots.
