Is there any current capabilities to do NLP in JotForm? If not, are there any developers who can be hired to build it?

Could you please provide more information on what you wish to achieve? You can use some online job portals or freelancing websites like Upwork to hire a developer.

We’re about to develop a healthcare app to help determine what a user should do based on reported symptoms. The user will select from multi-select list with an Other option. If Other is selected, then we want to evaluate the response input to identify particular keywords from unstructured text, which would use conditional logic to show other questions associated with the that selection to gain further information about user’s symptoms (each discrete data items, OTOH, has is own conditional show logic tailored to the selected symptom). There are NLP programs available (e.g., TextRazor), but we don’t know how to integrate them with our JotForm form. So, the NLP program would have to read the Other text input in real time, extract the related keywords, and return the results to the form (by populating a delimited text box, for example) which would then be available for subsequent use.

We might be able to use hundreds of conditional “if contains” statements, but the spelling would have to be exact (so it would need a spell check function) and it would drastically slow down the form’s responsiveness.

What you need is a developer who can develop a custom script for that would integrate to TextRazor's API (Natural Language Processoring API).

You can hire a developer online and provide them Jotform's API for their reference https://api.jotform.com/docs/
