Can I export questions as numerical values?

Asked by Ed on April 05, 2013 at 05:31 PM

For example, if the answers are

    1. apples

    2 oranges

    3. pears

I wouldn't want the responses to be "apples, oranges, pears" but I'd want the answers to be "1, 2, 3".

    Hi Ed,

That's possible but you have to take your form source code and manually edit the field value attributes. When you create an options with JotForm, JotForm generates the same value as the label. Example:

In your checkbox you had this options,

    1. Apples

    2. Oranges

JotForm will create a value the same as its labels on the source code.

    1. Apples - value="1. Apples"

    2. Oranges - value="2. Oranges"

Now, in order for your form to record only its corresponding numbers, you can modify the values from e.g. "1. Apples" to just "1". You can find them on your form source code, example:

    <div class="form-single-column"><span class="form-checkbox-item" style="clear:left;"><input type="checkbox" class="form-checkbox" id="input_4_0" name="q4_fruits[]" value="1" />

    <label for="input_4_0"> 1. Apples </label></span><span class="clearfix"></span><span class="form-checkbox-item" style="clear:left;"><input type="checkbox" class="form-checkbox" id="input_4_1" name="q4_fruits[]" value="2" />

     <label for="input_4_1"> 2. Oranges </label></span><span class="clearfix"></span>

It shows the label 1. Apples but it has "1" value. In other words, the value "1" will be recorded by your form when user selected 1. Apples.

I hope I've explained it well. Feel free to let me know if you have further questions. Thank you!
