    Form uploaded files are missing on submissions

    Dear Friends

    I write because we are constantly receiving forms with missing filds (although they are mandatory).

    You can see in the list of forms sent to us, a large quatity of them that have missing fields, including some that directly, have missing pieces of the form.

    The proper functioning of this is of vital importance to us, because by this form, the people sign-on to a national event and, through it, they send proof of money deposit in banks.

    Thank you very much for understanding our situation and were waiting for an answer to help us overcome this situation.

    @rafa3000

    I checked that i was able to submit the form without providing an data in your matrix field.

    Please go to your Matrix preferences and under required property please select the appropriate validation for your matrix field.

    Hello.

    All the matrix fields are optional.  These fields make references to dinners or excursions that people can go or not.  

    We get completely empty forms and some that directly have missing pieces

    This is a link to all the submissions

    If you see in the page 10, the image file field is missing (although it is mandatory)

    The form in page 14 is completely empty.

    The matrix fields MUST always have some kind of validation?

    I checked your form and dont see any reason how the form can be submitted without the required fields filled.

    One possibility i can think of is that javascript must be disabled in user's browser and thats the reason why the form was submitted blank. Have you tried to submit your form without entering any data?

    In ALL my browsers (IE8, 9, 10, Firefox, Chrome, iOS & Android) I can't send without filling the required fields.

    Correct. That means the user's browser javascript is disableed who submitted your form with blank data.

    is there any automated way that the form can detect the javascript enabled/disabled status and warn user when it is off or not allow them to proceed? i know im probably asking for too much here, but aint no harm in wondering and asking. or is there a way outside of jotform for a piece of code to accompany the form page to do the same objective that you guys may be aware of... i hear your team is fanatically resourceful ;)

    @rms1985

    As far as i can remember, you can use <noscript> ... </noscript> tag to display information if the browser doesn't support client side scripting.

    I will try to work on this but it would take me a little while to provide a working solution around this. I am sure a google search will give you a lot of options :)

    The problem is back, and in a bad way.

    The Image file field is mandatory (checked), but the last forms, some go with the image and not others.

    Here are are the submissions:

    Can you help me? Is VERY important that the form comes complete!

    Hi,

    Please consider re-embedding your form using our iframe method: How to Get Form iFrame Codes.

    On your HTML Page, add this noscript codes so your users will be aware that their Browser Javascript is disabled and needs to be enabled;

     Your Browser Javascript is DISABLED! Please ENABLE to Proceed! Thanks

    </noscript>

     

    Then continue to monitor your form and let us know if that will happen again.

    Could it be that this is a problem with that question in particular? Always truncated after the same question.

    I have cloned your form to my account, but I was not able to reproduce the problem from my side.

    Can you please add a browser information field to the form? It will help us to investigate the problem. In order to add that browser information field, drag and drop a 'Hidden Box' field to your form, then enable the 'Browser Info' option through its properties.

    Then, if you receive a new submissions without attached file, we will be able to see user's browser information. Thank you.

    I have this exact same problem on now 2 of my forms. I have reported one of them as I just learned of the problem this morning on the other form. I have done everything that support has requested and it still didnt solve my problem. It is definately not a disabled java script problem. I am just now learning, from reading through this thread, how to get browser information, I think that will be important to know. I understand your frustration rafa3000, but don't expect support to figure out what the problem is, they can't.

    It will become frustrating. Just today I had to remake my forms field by field. I did not clone them just in case their was some sort of internal scooting malfunction, and I added the browser info as suggested. Sofar so good, I have my fingers crossed.

    While we're on to trying to nail this down, I guess it would be better also to ask the person who sent the file to send it again.  If you need it via the same, exact submission, we can provide you the edit link for it.

    Also as Aytekin said, we'll also inform you immediately once we have replicated and fixed the problem.

    This images are scans of bank deposits for paying for the event.  So, are very important ;o)

    Hi Rafael,

    I too was able to download the file butI could not open the jpeg image format. But when I tried on the other jpeg files on your form's submissions data, I was able to open them properly.

    It is possible that I jsut do not have the correct file viewer to open this particular file. Or it can be also because the uploaded file already have issues prior to upload.

    BUT the one thing that seems to have been resolved is -- the uploaded file is no longer missing. It is now in the submission page and can be dowloaded using the link (no more access denied error)

    Will it be OK if you can request again to the user to re-upload the particular file (Transferencia $3000 inscrip Plenario Parana.jpeg). And we will test the dowload again. Or ask them to email it to you instead.

    Currently this issue still have it's ticket opened. Our developer is still investigating this for further issues.

    Rafael, actually I did not check the image in image viewer itself when I replied to you. Now I have read helpful Jonathan's answer and can confirm that the problem is related to the file extension.

    It appears to be a PDF scan, but not a jpg image.

    Please download the file and re-name it from 'Transferencia $3000 inscrip Plenario Parana.jpg' to 'Transferencia $3000 inscrip Plenario Parana.pdf', then you will be able to open it.
