All of my responses are showing up as long strings of letters and numbers. I believe it is encrypted but I am not being prompted for my private key. I was prompted once but the file would not upload. Please help.

You are seeing an encrypted text because your form encryption is enabled.

Please try clearing your browser cache https://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser's-Cache or try using Chrome incognito mode https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95464 then check the submission again.

Let us know how it goes.

Can I decrypt my responses and download them as a PDF or Excel file?

You can decrypt encrypted submission data using an encryption key. Once the data on the submissions page has been decrypted, you can already download it as a PDF or Excel file.

Thank you. I have read the guide. I entered the encryption key and was able to view the submissions, but when I downloaded the PDF, the responses were still encrypted.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to receive the (decrypted) submissions in a PDF File for encrypted forms. You will need to disable the form encryption to download the decrypted submissions in PDF format.

Can I permanently decrypt my submissions and cancel the encryption key?

I did not understand how the encryption worked when I was making the form so now I have two separate encryption keys for the data. I just want to turn all encryption off entirely so I can download my data in pdf/excel forms. Can someone in jotform support take a look at my account and help me do this?

To turn off the encryption, please go to Settings > Form Settings > Show More Options and set Encrypt Form Data to No.

This will ensure that the submissions which you receive will not be encrypted anymore. However, to decrypt the previous submissions, you will need to upload the private key.

I no longer want my previous submissions to be encrypted at all. Is it possible to turn this off entirely?

Unfortunately, this is not possible to entirely turn it off for already encrypted submissions.

You may consider temporarily enabling the encryption, copying the decrypted data for your records, then disabling the encryption. So the new submissions will be received as regular entries.
