Can I send a confirmation code using the email validator with my own address?

Yes you can, it is possible by setting up your own SMTP credentials.

1) Click on the wand icon fo the E-mail Validator widget.

2) Click on the Set up SMTP button.

3) Add a new SMTP account, and put your SMTP details:
