If I ask user to upload a photo / image, can jotform automatically resize it to be smaller (e.g. 50Kb) from usuaully uploaded 8Mb images ?
- JotForm SupportjonathanAnswered on May 03, 2013 at 05:20 PM
Unfortunately, No. The current form upload field is not capable of resizing the to be uploaded file.
BUT you can set the file size max allowed using the fields Max File Size property. This in effect will prevent the form user from uploading more than the allowed max file size limit. They will need to manually resize the file size before it can be uploaded.
Hope this help. Inform us if you have more question.

I hope you will add it very soon, thats really basics, we use your forms in many sites and its a big usability issue to ask the user to convert manully picture sizes and today all pictures are more than 10mb a picture by default!

Thank you for the info.
I actually have forwarded your suggestion to our next level support so that it can be added in the request feature lists.
We will notify you once this feature/capability is available for the upload field.

looking forward to the image resize c# upload you are going to add, or we have to convert images everytime we try to load something. very inconvenient.

This request is already forwared to our development team but we are not sure if / when this feature will be added.
If there are any updates on this you will get the notification via this thread.

Thanks a lot, looking forward, it seems very little effort from your side, just few lines of code and for all of us its a big help as files and photos are very big today !

Hi, unfortunatelly, the request ticket for this feature was cancelled by our higher team support.
Although I am not sure for the reason, it must be a reasonable one.
For one, I think the automatic down sizing of file size for image only uploads maybe too complex to incorporate since the upload field is not only used solely for image file types. It will be too difficult since a lot of other file of types(documents,spreadsheets,plain,raw...etc..) can be used by the upload field.
- rleitmanAnswered on June 09, 2013 at 07:18 PM
Thanks, can I mitigate it at least by automatically store any uploaded file/image in drop box or google drive ?
- rleitmanAnswered on June 09, 2013 at 07:19 PM
and also make it uploading asynchronously by that ? means the form will be submitted before the full 20 mega image is uploaded ... like happen when I drag something to drop box or google drive its immidiate and only then in background its uploaded
- JotForm SupportjonathanAnswered on June 09, 2013 at 07:50 PM
You can integrate the form to dropbox or google drive.
This will automatically store the uploaded files on the integrated form to your dropbox account or google account.
If I understand you correctly, the uploading in the form can only be completed successfully if the submit is successful also.
So, for the transfer to happen (to your dropbox/google drive) -- forms with the uploaded file should be submitted successfully.

i think it will need some codes added to the jotform to make your images automatically resize just like image resizer in an application. hope it will be helpful to you or you can resize images before uploading . they are both very convenient.

Thank you for the input. Definitely those are features that are worth evaluating. Like Jonathan explained, the Development Team has been made aware of this information, seeing as though the request has already been cancelled for the time being. The input will still be taken for future Developmet discussions. Thank you again for your input.
Do let us know if you need assistance with any other issue. Thank you.

I would really like to use jotform, but until it can auto resize pics, our company will have to find an alternate company to work with.

Good day @cellisrrr,
Thanks for your comments. We would suggest posting a separate thread so we can escalate that as a feature request. This way, our developers would know the number of request for this specific function.

I wonder resizing iamges using the tools can only customize the size of images but not compress the images, right? Any good suggestion? Thanks in advance.
