What are the consequences of changing an Input Table for already submitted results

Hi JotForm,

I have a little problem, caused by a stupid mistake on my side. I have two forms that are supposed to be identical and to only differ in language, one in Afrikaans and the other in English.

Now I've discovered that in two questions (input tables) on the English Form that I have an extra choice and unfortunately arranged an Input Table differently than in the Afrikaans form. (see attached PNG files)

Seeing that I want to combine both the forms into one excel sheet this is made difficult because the column structure of the Excel Report differs from the English form to the Afrikaans Form.

My question is what happens to the data that has already been submitted into the Afrikaans form when I change the arrangement of the Input Table and add an extra option to the Afrikaans Form.

Hello Hanco -If you add another option then the data will remain the same, the changes will affect the new submissions only. However, if you delete some of the options then the associated data will also be deleted on your submission page.

Oke, perfect! So If I add an option to the Input table, that will only affect new entries. But what if I shifted some of the options around like having:

- Ketel
- Laptop
- Printer
- TV
- Lights
- Phone Charger

Instead of:

- Ketel
- Laptop
- Printer
- Phone Charger
- TV
- Lights

What happens to the info that has already been submitted?

Rearranging the row titles should not affect the data that was already submitted. I've tested that from my end and already submitted data is not deleted.

Subsequent submissions after changing the row titles will only be affected.

So, unfortunately, GeraldW your assessment that the submitted data will not be affected is not entirely correct. The data that has already been submitted does not disappear but stays in the row it's originally been entered into. Meaning that if I change the following:

- Ketel
- Laptop
- Printer
- TV
- Lights
- Phone Charger

To:

- Ketel
- Laptop
- Printer
- Phone Charger
- TV
- Lights

All the data that has originally been entered into TV will now reflect as being entered as Phone Charger, Lights will now reflect as TV and Phone Charger reflects as Lights.

Yes, that is the expected result if you change the order. You can only add options but you need to make sure the headers are still intact or in the same order.
