Why are there Duplicate Submissions on my Form?

Asked by Lostdogsmn on May 06, 2013 at 02:15 PM

    Hi there

I use your forms to have ppl submit lost or found dogs to me, to upload on my facebook site.

The last few days, we keep getting one dog, LuLu, and her form. I'd say, we've gotten it almost 20 times if not more. We made contact with the family to make sure the dog isnt lost again, and find out if they are submitting the forms, which they assured us they are not. For some reason, its this one dog.

Why is this happening? Is something looping it in JF?

    Thanks!

    Tammy

Hi Tammy, so it seems like you are having a data replication problem on your form but after further investigation I think this is a spamattack on your form by someone.

When I took a quick look at your form and realized that it appears that whoever this person is either lied to you about this or else possibly their computer got hacked because this is clearly spamming on your form. The reason I say this is because if you look at the IP Address it is changing each time with the same data submitted. To me it clearly looks like whoever did this is just mass spamming your form in my opinion and then using a proxy to jump IP's.

To help you try to combat this problem I've banned all the IP's I've found regarding this Submission. In addition to help you fight this attack please change your form submissions to Unique Submissions with a " Strict " Setting. It would also be a good idea to configure some Unique Questions into the fields for this as well. You can Set up Unique Questions by add the NAME FIELD as Unique since it appears that the Name "Lulu" is recurring on your form. Doing this should help to prevent this from happening again.

Here's an image below where I've also annotated the problem for reference so you can see what I am talking about -
